The Artichoke New Designers and Makers Conference 2022

25th February 2022 @ 7:00 am - 5:00 pm GMT

The Artichoke New Designers and Makers Conference 2022
We’re excited to announce that a new annual conference for emerging designer makers will be taking place at the end of this month, thanks to @artichoke_ltd.

When Artichoke was founded 30 years ago, it started with a dream, a pencil and some tools.

From simple beginnings on a borrowed workshop bench, we are now a team of 50 designing and making for private clients all over the world.

Reaching the age of 30 has taken blood, sweat and tears. Along the way we have made lots of really good decisions but we have also made mistakes – mistakes that we would now like to help those starting out in the industry learn from.

The Artichoke New Designers and Makers Conference 2022 is being held in Cheddar, Somerset, and is open to students undergoing their last year of their course and also to designers and makers who have recently set up in business. The conference will feature talks from the world of cabinet making, design, architecture and more, with topics ranging from how to find clients and charging properly for your time, to creating a compelling brand that buyers believe in and costing your work. We will also be hearing from a successful new designer maker already trading.

The Artichoke New Designers and Makers Conference 2022 is free to attend. New designer makers and student designer makers in their final year of studies from all over the UK are being invited. Places are limited so please do register your attendance as soon as you’re able to.

Confirmed speakers so far include Designer Maker Alice Blogg(pictured below who will be talking about the mistakes she has made and the lessons she has learned from them), Dr Inge Hill (who is Senior Lecturer in Business Strategy at the Royal Agricultural University and advisor to rural creative business start ups across the UK) and Charles Byron of Byron & Gomez (who will also be speaking about his journey and lessons he can pass on.

Please check with the show venue before attending to make sure the show details are still correct.

Tickets are free, but registration is essential – sign up below
