The final in our series on making a custom knife handle, Randy Maxey shows an unusual method for holding a small workpiece to fine-tune the final thickness using a block plane. Planing the knife scales to final thickness is critical for a proper fit in the knife sheath. Then, apply a few coats of oil finish before fastening them to the knife blade.
